ASC Surgery - 12 months - Post Operation
Well, I never dreamt that I would be writing a post feeling so peaceful, calm and happy at
twelve months post operation.
To be honest, I never dreamt that I would ever be writing that Skye was able to have VBT / ASC surgery after everything my beautiful brave little girl went through. To see Skye playing in her beloved 1st XI soccer & futsal team, walking off to school with albeit a very light back pack, and turning into a really lovely & strong 16 year old - my heart cannot stop singing.
But here we are, 12 months to the day of Skye's operation; what a mixed bundle of emotions today has been.
Weirdly we were welcomed at the hospital by the radiographer who did our first X-ray back in New Zealand after the operation in Germany - she remembered us - she remembered the bag of nerves that we both were as the image came on the screen and she remembered the tears - gosh, I must have been one helluva wreck.
And stupidly today, as soon as the image came on the screen again, the tears came - the happy, relieved, in awe tears of seeing what I thought was actually a slight improvement even though
Skye hasn't grown a milli-meter since the op.
There was talk about performing another operation to bring her curves down by another 50%, but for now, I think we just rejoice and let nature take its course, and enjoy this feeling of peace.
I've sent the X-rays to Dr Trobisch, and the response, from the man of few words, "these are perfect" - who needs more words than those :-)
Love to everyone xx
